Stick Chick & Social Emotional Intelligence

In this fast-paced experience we’ll learn about the Stick Chick model that explains what happens in the body, brain, and behavior in children and adults. We’ll learn how to identify what is happening ‘on the inside’ and how to effectively guide others through challenging behaviors. Participants will draw, discuss, move around, and learn tons of tips to help with interactions between children and adults in order to become more emotionally intelligent.

Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to

  • Discuss the Stick Chick Model and apply it to a real issue
  • Explain the 4 Minds and 3 Interaction Types and apply these to your own life
  • Self-Assess on the 7 Levels of awareness and share with another person
  • Create a one thing action plan

Outcomes of this Powerful PD Day

  • Participants will discuss their most important points about Stick Chick in a small group (or table group) and then role play a ‘wonky interaction’ with a partner and use the Stick Chick model to make it better.
  • Participants will discuss the 4 Minds & 3 Interactions in triads and create a small action step for a repeated negative pattern in the workplace
  • Participants will take a short 7 Levels quiz, share results with a buddy, and explain/defend why they think that is true.
  • Participants will compose a 1 thing, sticky note, action plan, post it on the wall, and volunteers will share their one thing in the larger group. All participants will report their one thing on the evaluation sheet.

4 Training Hours (OR) .4 CEUs

All participants must be present the whole time of the event and actively engaged in all activities, as well as complete the assessment and action plan at the end of the training. NO PARTIAL CREDIT WILL BE GIVEN.
